Charity Shopping

Another fruitful day of charity shopping on Tuesday. I had to go to Trowbridge to meet with Sarah Kenyon from Trowbridge Museum to discuss the August Festival and my window display in Fabric Magic

I took full advantage of the charity shops while I was there, and found this brilliant black and Gold jacket. (There's not enough glittery 80's things in my wardrobe!)

I also found the 'Tea' and 'Coffee' pot to match the 'Sugar' I've got at home by Henry Watson Pottery, with the odd suggestion of "Ideal storage at home or on safari" on the front.

The find of the day had to be this lovely little mustard yellow Sadler jug.
A bargain at just 99p!

The Degree Show, 10th June 2011

'Embroidered recipes' 2011
Hand embroideries of my Grandmother's recipe book.
Found fabrics, cotton, lace, found books and tobacco tin.

'Face Pots' 2011
Embroidered faces of the paternal side of my family, imprinted.
Hand embroidery on cotton, stoneware clay, black underglaze and G14.

The private view of the degree show on the 10th June was a huge success. Even though it was raining, hundreds of people turned up to see our work and drink the free wine.

Here a few photos of my degree show work and a couple from the Private View.

Easton Arts Trail 2011

Jenni's house looking dressed up.

Some lovely work by Jenni Joule

Jenni, beaming next to her Heads of Fate textile sculpture.

The "Gallery Space".

My latex teacups embedded with family photographs and found materials
and an embroidered recipe encased in resin.

Hand made ceramic jewellery and wearable textile art.

At the weekend my lovely friend Jenni Joule opened her house to the public as part of Easton Arts Trail 2011. We had a wonderful day exhibiting our recent work and selling our hand crafted creations while people following the trail popped in to see us and our work.

We made cake and chai tea and got to meet lots of interesting people from the Bristol creative communities.

Embroidered Book

This afternoon I've been finishing off and tidying up the edges of my embroidered book before hand in. This book is one of the 5/6 pieces from this year I'll be showing in the degree show.

I think there's only a couple more embroidered pages left to do before this one is finished.

Chiffon shirt

This is a lovely little chiffon shirt I found in Cancer Research in Bath the other day, £4 bargain.
It's got a bit of pretty embroidery around the top, and looks far less nan like in person!

'The Collective' Exhibition

Last night we popped along to 'The Collective' Exhibition at The Officers Club, Bath - In association with Fringe Arts Bath.

Our Friend Lauren was exhibiting her collection of train tickets (See her grinning with the tickets above).

There were lots of other lovely little things to see, including a large collection of bird eggs, exhibited by Kieran Fawcett which were to be found on a table of oddities and old things! I also particularly liked the collection of dried apple cores, and the artist/collector, Gill Holt, who has held on to all her scrabble journals for 40 years!
