Tea Bowls Tea Bowls

Yesterday was very productive! I saw the results of the glaze tests i did in the reduction firing last week! Some are lovely, and some not so.. but it's good to know whats worth repeating (and more importantly, what's not!).
I threw 14 new tea bowls and turned foot rings in to four less successful attempts from last week. It's amazing what a difference a foot ring makes to how professional and deliberate your work looks!!

Monday

Today has been average and fairly unproductive! I did manage a miniature embroidered portrait inspired by a photo i found in Stroud. To try and rediscover some direction i had a look back through this Stroud project and found some drawings i liked. and although not my strength, the simplicity in these pen drawings i really like. i'll try and incorporate these into my embroidery.
i'll keep you updated!! for now - here are the drawings!

Afternoon Tea?

For mothers day due to lack of funds and general novelty value i decided to knit my mum a tea cosy!
It was from a really simple pattern i found online, i just added a bit of fair-isle, lace knit and a massive pom-pom!
I made cup cakes and popped them on a cake stand that i made for a ceramics project last year!
and a lovely day was had by all!
Happy 16th March Everyone!

Green Park Market Stall

I've finally found somewhere that would help to sell my work in Bath. This stall in Green Park Station is rented by Camila and Anna and the first day was pretty successful selling 7 of my items! Thanks Girls!

'Fragmented Lace'

So today i saw the finished results of my work.
I waited for ever for the kiln to cool down enough for me to open it without cracking anything! and did some throwing in the mean time.
Because these pieces are going as a collection in 'The Secret Garden' exhibition at Walcot Chapel i needed to name the collective as a piece in itself. i finally settled on a simple name basically describing the inspiration of the piece:

'Fragmented Lace'

so here it is along with the glaze tests!

A bit of a Beret Moment

So i've been knitting things, 8 Berets in total. I think they call it procrastination - it's probably time to do some actual proper work, go into uni, that sort of thing!!

Little Hen Rescue Project

I found this really nice project by 'Litte Hen Rescue' from Norwich. They are appealing for knitters to make jumpers for hens without feathers for warmths once they have been rescued from the battery farms.
Here is a link to the website: http://littlehenrescue.co.uk/jumpers.aspx

Here's my effort!! (the stripey top image)
